Our team updated the brand identity for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

We chose the Cossack cross on a rounded shield as the main symbol, connecting historical heritage with the modern mission of protecting Ukraine’s borders. The cockade and beret badge draw inspiration from the insignia of the Separate Border Guard Corps of the Ukrainian People’s Republic from 1918. Working alongside type designer Dmytro Rastvortsev, we developed Kordon (Ukrainian for “border”) — a custom typeface with 22 styles. It balances utilitarian clarity for wayfinding with stylistic details that reference border symbolism and Ukrainian type traditions. The color scheme reflects the diversity of Ukraine’s borders through four distinct shades: Green Border for the forests and border guards’ berets, Steppe Border for field uniforms, while Sea and Sky Blue represent maritime patrol and aviation units.

We also created a design system to support communications across channels.

As of early 2026, the identity is being gradually implemented. All work was done pro bono.
